The Pre-primary to Year 10 Western Australian curriculum provides a coherent and comprehensive set of prescribed content and achievement standards which schools will use to plan student learning programs, assess student progress and report to parents.
The Western Australian curriculum encompasses ACARA's Australian curriculum English, Mathematics and Science. In addition, year-level syllabuses for Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Technologies, The Arts and Languages remain broadly consistent with the Australian curriculum but have been contextualised to make them more suitable for Western Australian students and teachers.
Achievement on a page: Year 1 – Learning area achievement standards Health and Physical Education – Years 1-2 Humanities and Social Sciences By the end of Year 2, students describe changes that occur as they grow older. They recognise how strengths and achievements contribute to identities. The Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education (F–10) aims to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to enable students to: access, evaluate and synthesise information to take positive action to protect, enhance and advocate for their own and others' health, wellbeing, safety and physical activity participation across. A: Content descriptions and achievement standards will be the key elements of the K-10 Australian Curriculum. Content descriptions specify what teachers are expected to teach. They include knowledge, skills and understanding for each learning area and are described for each year level. Given the phased implementation of the Western Australian curriculum for Languages, schools may be teaching from the former Western Australian Curriculum Framework.
